The Purple Pig Wears Red Lipstick Book Launch #ThrowbackThursday

This is a Guest Post by Jemmarie Bocalbos, A Practicing Multimedia Arts Graduate from De La Salle College of Saint Benilde.

Do you aim to become the best version of yourself be it for career, personal or social reasons? The Purple Pig Wears a Red Lipstick by Delby Bragais teaches you exactly how.

Last January 31, 2015 this life-changing book was launched and it continued to sell out in Philippine bookstores.

I would like to share with you my own personal experience during that day.

A few weeks before the book launch itself I was invited by my friend Karmi Panaguiton the illustrator for the book. Karmi and I have been friends since 6th grade so I thought the event would be pretty casual. I went there wearing simple jeans and shirt together with my boyfriend who was also wearing just an equally casual attire.

This is why I was so surprised when I got there during the day. The venue had a real aura of professionalism. I was awestruck because the mood was great. It was entirely something new for me.

The food was great, the set up was elegant, everything was perfect. I got there early and I had a short talk with Karmi before she had to do her assigned task, then I bought and started skimming the book.

The program started and I was left even more enchanted. There was a mini fashion show in the book launch and models entered the catwalk wearing unique and body enhancing designs by Ms. Delby. As a fashion enthusiast I really loved it! I might not dress as fashionably daily but as a child one of the things I aimed to be was a fashion designer. I loved designing clothes inspired by the anime and manga I read and watched.

Ms. Delby then gave an inspiring talk about why she wrote the book and how she also wanted to help and inspire others to reach their goals thru self branding. I was very interested in it. As a millennial it's true that we want a lot of things but that's only because we want to be the very best that we can be.

Because we want a lot of things it can sometimes seem daunting to think about how we can achieve them but Ms. Delby's talk and book has made it clear that it's not impossible as long as we know what our goals are we can reinvent ourselves to be able to reach them. One of the ways to do so is by self branding and by embodying our goals thru our self image. By reflecting what we want to be in our attitude, the way we dress and the way we communicate we become a step closer to our goal.

The event ended with a book signing and I was very happy to be able to have my personal copy signed. It was a very fabulous night and it's an event that has given me hope and direction on how to reach my goal.

When I got home I hurriedly read the book and I finished it a few days later. The tips were very concrete and it really pushes its reader to reflect and take action. There isn't an easy road to success but there is a very practical way to do it. Just follow the step by step guide written in The Purple Pig Wears Red Lipstick and surely you'll feel that you've taken a step towards your goal.
